As SLPs, we all know that writing IEPs can be a challenge.

In this episode of SLP Coffee Talk, I sat down with Jennifer Hofferber to talk all about IEPs and get her best time-saving tips and meeting must-haves that will make your life a whole lot easier.

Jennifer Hofferber is a veteran special education teacher with 27 years of experience working in a resource room setting at the elementary level and just this year began a new role as a Special Education Instructional Coach for her entire district.

In 2007,  Jennifer was named Special Educator of the Year for the state of Kansas and in 2015 she received the great honor of being named to the Kansas Teacher of the Year Team and got to travel the state visiting schools, talking to legislators, and collaborating with some amazing administrators and educators.

It was through those experiences that Jennifer began her leadership journey and realized that, in addition to her love of teaching children, she found that teaching teachers were just as important.

Her passion for supporting struggling special educators is what led her to start a podcast, sell courses on her website and become a teacher seller on TPT all by the name Sped Prep Academy.

In This Episode You’ll Discover:

  • How to create a weekly prep schedule
  • Tips for creating systems to simplify your work
  • Ways to simplify collecting data for each student
  • How to be more proactive with your IEP writing
  • Tips for using goal banks with your students
  • Must-haves and organization tips for your next meeting
  • Tips for collaborating with other professionals
