Look Into Your Heart

Today I’m incredibly grateful for long, lazy summer days.

I’ve been reading a book I found in my brother’s collection;

it’s called The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.

In it, I found the Jung quote above that has me reflecting.

Couple that with these letters from some fourth-grade friends

in Wisconsin, and my heart is awakening in vibrant ways.

Reading it “by heart” … isn’t that lovely?

And “it really made us happy.” Big {puffy heart} hug.

On the back, she drew my ukulele alongside her key principle.

“With such compassion” … and look at that precious illustration!

I love that Charli added a keyhole to her masterpiece.

It made me smile that Joy connected with how

“you put your whole heart when reading the book.”

And when one of the teachers asked if I was going to write another book,

I shared that I was actually toying with its title, vacillating between these two options: Mipps And Birdie, Birdie And Mipps.

So this young illustrator drew herself

reading my new book Mipps and Birdie.

See why my heart is wide awake?!

When I look into my heart as I read these and reflect, I can’t help but see a world of possibility and so much promise. These passionate authors and illustrators give me hope. Hope for a better tomorrow. Hope for an equitable world filled with empathy, compassion, kindness and love. Hope for a safe and brave space where we live connected by unity and joy.

And I’m overcome with gratitude and peace.

What do you see when you look into your heart?
