Exploration of Math Vocabulary
Before providing the definition of a math concept, see if your students can create their own definition in pairs or groups. Give students a list of examples and non-examples of the word and have them write the meaning of the word. Have each group or pair, share their definition Engage in a discussion about the word and its meaning. As a class define the word. This will help students to understand the meaning of the math vocabulary and see how it is used in math.
