It’s back! the first episode of our podcast, SNJ in Conversation is here— and it’s one that you won’t want to miss.

You should know by now that the Government’s SEND Improvement Plan isn’t going to change any legislation, in the near term at least. But what does that mean for your child? We know that families are sometimes being told that the law has changed, or that eligibility criteria has been “tightened” or maybe even that your LA isn’t “allowed” to create Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) because for financial or other reasons.

Reader, don’t listen to them! Listen instead to our good friend, public law barrister Steve Broach.

About Steve

Steve has particular expertise in health, education and social care and disability and children’s rights cases. He is a discrimination specialist and is a member of the Equality and Human Rights Commission ‘A’ Panel. Steve is instructed in the High Court and above in applications for judicial review, in the Court of Protection for cases involving the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and in the First-tier and Upper Tribunals in education and other appeals. He frequently advises clients on safeguarding issues. He is also regularly instructed in human rights and discrimination claims. Steve was named ‘Future Leader: Diversity & Inclusion’ at the Chambers UK Bar Awards 2021.

Your questions answered

We asked readers on our Facebook page and group what questions they wanted answering and we hope that the ones we asked will be helpful to you. Steve is also participating in our roundtable later this week about the “Improvement Plan”, register here. But in this episode he’s concentrating only on the here and now… Watch it or listen below, or wherever you get your podcasts.
