What to Expect: Responsibility, healthy eating, family, dinosaurs, cooperation

Magic and mayhem meet STEM instruction in this fun and unusual story about healthy eating.

Grandma has a problem—green grocery store dust makes her sneeze. Even worse—when she sneezes, she magically transforms into different dinosaurs! Her grandkids have a problem, too—they need to finish their health eating reports before the grocery store field trip ends. But how can they concentrate on their work when grandma’s magical sneezing is causing so much chaos? As Grandmasaurus stomps and chomps her way through the different sections of the grocery store, her grandkids learn about omnivores, carnivores, and herbivores—as well as the different food groups humans need to stay healthy!

Readers will enjoy following the different dinosaurs through the grocery store, comparing their eating needs and habits to those of the various animals Grandma morphs into. Colorful, detail-filled illustrations invite readers to explore the food sections while they try to spot Grandma. An information page at the end of the book helps readers learn more about the dinosaurs (and mammoth) that feature in the story. Fun and dynamic fonts and text complement the illustrations, while short sentences help keep the text accessible.
The Adventures of Grandmasaurus at the Supermarket is a surreal and hilarious way to open conversations about healthy eating with young readers!
