The Birthday Boy

Yesterday was Alejandro’s birthday.  In the late afternoon, we drove to a bakery a few miles away from his house.  There I bought for him the same kind of cake that he bought for my birthday last year… a baklava cake.

It’s very tasty cake, and unlike anything I have seen in the U.S. or at any other bakery in Mexico.  Triangles of baklava top a cheesecake.

That evening at suppertime, we brought out the cake, put a candle on it, and sang “Las Mañanitas”, the traditional birthday song.

¡Felicidades, Alejandro!
