Autumn leaves turn red and gold

The last week of sunny warm Autumn weather! We enjoyed the sunshine, adventuring around the land and exploring new trees, finding the first Madrone berries falling, learning some animal tracking basics, and of course keeping our eyes out for any acorns falling from the oaks. We continued to crack and process acorns this week, getting ready to grind and leech and finally eat some acorn pancakes.

In anticipation of the seasonal shift towards the wet and cold weather, we got some help from some amazing, supportive friends and family to put together our forest school tipi for the winter. We are so grateful to have a cozy shelter when the rains come, and we spent time together as a class “housekeeping,” getting settled in our new class home and trimming stray blackberries and wild roses.
