Then, we show them how a hamper can hide some of the glow, but now all of it.
Finally, students are encouraged to come up with hampers that would block the ghoulish, greenish glow. They come up with a few plans that may work. Next, they pick a plan they want to try. Finally, they work with the material to make a hamper to test this out. I love to provide brown paper bags, white paper bags, tape, and copy paper.
This activity sparks their creativity and introduces them to the principles of design thinking and problem-solving. It also provides an excellent opportunity to discuss scientific concepts like light and blocking light.
